In 2004 Tsarskoselskaya Amber Workshop began working on the joint project with Faber-Castell – the best German manufacturer of writing instruments; Fountain Pen of the Year 2004. The head of the Amber Room restoration group, master craftsman Boris Igdalov, personally oversaw the creation of Faber Castell Pen of the Year. All amber rings were individually processed, polished, and combined with platinized rings for a dazzling interplay of precise silver lines of precious metal next to warm caramel colours of "organic" stone. Each individually numbered instrument was enclosed in an exclusive wooden case with an "amber eye" and was accompanied by an authentication certificate bearing the personal signature of Boris Igdalov.

In 2013 the Amber Workshop and Graf Von Faber-Castell joined in one more inspiring project - Jasper Fountain Pen of the Year, inspired by the grand opening of the Agate Rooms in the pavilion of Cold Bath in Tsarskoye Selo, St.Petersburg, Russia.
